Why Salesforce is Among the Best Tools to Accelerate Business Productivity

Salesforce is the most capable, scalable, and customizable CRM tool that you’ll ever find. From integrations to automations, Salesforce has it all.
Prior to becoming a developer and architect for the Salesforce platform, I couldn’t have told you much about the company other than the fact that it was one of the biggest companies in the world run by one of Earth’s rare race of billionaires, Marc Benioff.

Now, I reflect on the platform’s capability and ponder how any company can survive or be productive without having such a powerful tool at their disposal.

What is Salesforce?

On the surface, one would imagine Salesforce to be nothing more than a CRM (Customer-Relationship Management) tool used as a database to maintain a bird’s eye view of all customer information and insights — they are advertised as such after all. I’m here to tell you that it’s so much more.
It not only bridges the gap between a business and its customers but streamlines productivity within the business. Generally, with a CRM tool, you’d expect it solely to drive the sales pipeline and lead management of the company, but although Salesforce does lead the pack as the world’s #1 CRM tool you can extract value from it way beyond the boundaries of just your sales team.

To help you imagine the capabilities of Salesforce, think of it as a cloud platform that serves as a host for a large suite of applications that are limitless in functionality. The CRM is simply only one of those applications that sit on top of Salesforce’s platform that is specifically geared towards sales users and managers — kind of like how an app sits on top of the operating system of your phone.
Now Salesforce has developed its platform in a way to sort of act like an operating system for your organization where everything is centered around the heart that’s pumping blood into the veins of your company: customer data. This data-centric model allows for every single app on your platform to be part of this interconnected network where data is shared and passed between each one of those applications and beyond.

How Salesforce Customization Can Transform the Way You Do Business

You’re probably wondering how this can be beneficial for you and why you should care about having a suite of applications to play around within Salesforce.

When you can create your own apps on top of Salesforce and have the ability to edit and develop for existing apps, the doors for customization fly wide open. Like I said before, the capabilities of Salesforce lack boundaries.

This means that you can extend the platform to create custom salesforce tools that’ll increase the productivity, turnover rate, and value you generate within your organization thus allowing you to strengthen the bond between your B2C (business-to-customer) and B2B (business-to-business) relationships. You can even allow Salesforce to communicate with the other enterprise software that’s already crucial to your organization and create a warehouse and network of business-critical data.

That’s only a broad overview of what you can do though, here are a few more specific examples that’ll grant you a better idea of what you may be able to accomplish:
  • Leverage Salesforce communities to host several websites or portals for your customers, partners, or even your internal users — yes I mean that you can literally build your entire website with Salesforce seamlessly and with ease given their pre-existing templates.
  • Elevate your customer service by allowing real-time communication with customers through an easy to integrate chatbot, automatic case creation through the phone or website, and easy to create FAQs and knowledge articles to help your customers, partners, and internal users get answers to general questions.
  • You can implement an integrated payment system to process donations, product sales, or whatever purchases and transactions your company might need to make.
  • You can easily create tools to automate repetitive manual processes with and without code that’ll allow you to hone your focus more on what matters — innovation and progress. Some examples could be automatic field calculation, task creation, object creation, relationship sharing, and whatever you could possibly imagine.
  • Easily piece together reports and dashboards that’ll allow you to analyze and gain insight from data. Salesforce even created a new artificial intelligence tool known as Einstein Analytics that allows even further insight into your customer data so you could make the most impactful business decisions.
Remember, this is only a brief list of what you could do. Salesforce offers built-in services spanning far and wide tackling and supporting the niche of your industry in order to provide you and your customers with the most value possible. It doesn’t matter if you work in IoT, marketing, education, or even non-profit, they most likely offer a service for you.

Parting Thought

I think you get the idea. Salesforce is much more than just a sales platform, but provides you with functionality that is limited only to your business requirements, imagination, and creativity. Just like in all realms of computing, you can do anything. The only difference is that Salesforce allows you to do and manage everything you need in a single place.
